Massive Attack - Heligoland

Massive Attack recently released their newest album, "Heligoland," and we couldn't be more thrilled with it. We fell in love with them around the time they released "Mezzanine," so we were a little late to the game. "Heligoland" features many collaborators, some old (Martina Topley-Bird) and some new (Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio, that guy from Elbow). We read a great feature in the New Yorker that pointed out that Massive Attack as a group has always been greater than the sum of their parts, and they relied on collaborators to make their sound. "Pray for Rain," the track with Tunde is a standout, as is "Flat of the Blade" with the lead singer from Elbow. The beats on "Flat of the Blade" remind us of some of Matmos' work with Bjork on her "Vespertine" album. Since we heard this record, we have been recommending it to all our friends. If you're reading this, consider yourself a friend and go get this album.
