BoCoCa Arts Festival

The BoCoCa Arts Festival came to our attention last year, which was fortunate since that was the first year it existed. The festival was created by a group of actors, dancers and musicians who lived in Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn to connect new theatre, dance and musical acts with unique spaces to perform and reach new fans. Here's what they say about it on their website:

"The BoCoCa Arts Festival seeks to incorporate the varied and unique aspects of the Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens Communities through artistic expression, support of local businesses and the provision of entertainment and inspiration relevant to members of the BoCoCa’s community and beyond."

Last year, the festival went for about 2 weeks at clubs and lounges such as the Bell House, Deity and Ceol Pub. Loud Apt., Aprille Goodman, Diet Kong, The Spanish Channel and BR and Timebomb were some of the bands we checked out last summer. (There was also some fantastic burlesque dancing and some Shakespeare but we didn't catch the names of those folks. Sorry.) We hear BR and Timebomb has signed on to be part of the festival again this year and Loud Apt. is a maybe. If the first year was any indication, this summer (June 18-27) will be dope. They're accepting submissions until April 2.
